Walking With Hearts Locked Together

Entry from – The Place of Divine Intimacy

The most astonishing reality in this world is that the God who created the universe loves us. A careful look at the detailed, meticulous consideration God takes in us, His creation, and at how He delicately intertwines His heart with ours is nothing other than incredible. The human heart’ has a profound need for love, acceptance, and belonging. There is no place it could ultimately be filled other than before the living God. The demands on us in the relationship are clear: full devotion, commitment, surrender, and diligently following His ways. Yet in His calling to us for righteousness and total dedication, He remains absolutely aware of our weaknesses and failures, of the flesh we are born into. We often scorn these fleshly battles in which God’s plan is interwoven with our need to depend on Him daily. There is a day-to-day requirement to spend time with Him, join Him in the fight, and be in an intimate lock of hearts by necessity, desire, and dependency. These very battles often move our spirits to obey what seemed impossible: to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17). We pray, speak, and interact relationally with our God in the struggle. The result is a rich oneness.

God’s design for us was to have our daily bread, remain in Him, and know we can do nothing without Him. To bear fruit for His glory to please our Father, one victorious way alone, by being with Him. What other love requires a confession of desperate desire for another, a commitment to die to oneself, and a need for togetherness every step of the way? Where or in what else could we possibly find a living that leads one to the fullest of life? In the intimate affection of the Trinity, we step into an incomparable fellowship that allows human freedom to live wholeheartedly and completely in abundant life.
