Entry from – The Place of Divine Intimacy
It should not be surprising that understanding our incredible worth is a prerequisite to believing in others’ worth. Who would have known that having a solid foundation in our identity would be one of the most powerful ways that we can begin to love one another? To learn well that we are loved is to know God well—His heart, His nature, and His care. Understanding our identity as deeply beloved sons and daughters of the King of kings grounds us in freedom and fullness of life, and it opens us up to love others with great capacity. After an honest assessment of our strengths and weaknesses, we must find the place where we are accepted and able to receive love. It might take a lot of work, but when we can conclude that we are loveable, not because of us, but because of Him, we will see others around us, in all their complexities, as deeply loveable as well.
On the flip side, if we find ourselves in the undesirable place of criticizing others, we have likely stepped away from the truth of our own identity. Perceiving others in a negative light almost always follows stepping away from seeing ourselves as God does. To again be empowered to see the best in others and love them, we need to go back to Godhead-company. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are full of kindness, grace, tenderness, and love. From there, we need to ask how They see us and allow truth to rule.
What a powerful place to be reminded of our true selves and how He who loves us deeply sees us in all the potential of what we are to become in Jesus. Once we have received and have peace in the love received, we need to retain this truth and remind ourselves of it often until our true identity is tangible. Only then are we equipped to authentically love others and see the best in them.

I love the concept of understanding ones own value first.
